Join us for an afternoon concert by Mainstreet Brass, the acclaimed brass quintet that performs for our annual Service of Nine Lessons and Carols. This concert offers a wonderful opportunity to hear the ensemble on its own, presenting a varied and engaging program that spans centuries and musical styles, from 18th- and 19th-century American brass band music to Stephen Foster, George Gershwin, W.C. Handy and Cab Calloway.

About Mainstreet Brass

Mainstreet Brass formed in 1986, inspired by a musical camaraderie, a passion for brass quintet literature and performance, and a goal of presenting interesting and entertaining music to audiences. The ensemble has performed for arts festivals, colleges and concert series throughout Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, New England, the Midwest and the United Kingdom.

Known for its refined playing and engaging, accessible performances, Mainstreet Brass presents a diverse repertoire spanning the centuries, from 17th-century canzons and Bach transcriptions to show tunes and blues by composers including Jelly Roll Morton, W.C. Handy and Fats Waller. The ensemble is also committed to commissioning new works and arrangements and has released two recordings on the MSR Classics label.

Mainstreet Brass has previously worked with Bob Chilcott, Walter Pelz, Steven Sametz and Craig Courtney, including concerts and commemorative events at First Presbyterian Church of Stroudsburg. The ensemble is also the guest quintet at Central Moravian Church in Bethlehem, Pa., and serves as the brass ensemble for the annual Bethlehem Bach Festival. In addition to its concert schedule, Mainstreet Brass regularly performs for church services and academic ceremonies throughout the region.
