  The REV. GEORGE TAYLOR began as Senior Pastor of First in August 1998.  A native of Berwyn, Pennsylvania, George earned a B.A. from Penn State, an M.S.W. from Rutgers, and his M. Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary with a concentration in Pastoral Care. Ordained in 1974, George is now into his 36th  year of parish ministry, and has previously served churches in Colorado and New York.

He and his wife Gretchen (a junior high music teacher) are the proud parents of Ashley, 25 (a grad student at University of Oklahoma; Geoffrey, 23 (attending medical school at New York University); Nathaniel, 21 (a senior at Hamilton College in Clinton, New York); and  Jacob 18 (a freshman at Hamilton College). When not serving the church and volunteering in the community, George pursues his passions for both golf and playing the cello.

 The REV. DR. CAROL BROWN has served First since November of 1983.  A native of Pittsburgh, Carol is a graduate of Slippery Rock University and Pittsburgh Theological Seminary.  Carol received a Certificate in the Art of Spiritual Direction from San Francisco Theological Seminary in May 1997. She completed a Doctor of Ministry degree at SFTS in May 2002. Carol is our Associate Pastor for Congregational Life and Outreach.   Carol enjoys hiking, camping, traveling, music, and needlework.

 The REV. RICHARD AULENBACH, Parish Associate, is a retired minister in the United Church of Christ. He is a graduate of Franklin & Marshall with a BD from Lancaster Theological Seminary and a STM from Hartford Theological Seminary. Richard brings a vast amount of parish experience to our congregation, in addition to his wife, Romaine, who became a church member in 2003.

 Jim is a graduate of the College of Wooster in Ohio and McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago.  Jim has served churches in Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey  Jim’s wife Leslie, a member of First Presbyterian Church, sings in our choir and, an accomplished ventriloquist, conducts a wonderful puppet ministry with her friend “Penelope”.  Both retired, Jim and Leslie are very involved with Quiet Valley Farm, where Jim is a broom maker and Leslie is a weaver. As Parish Associate Jim maintains a relationship with the church and serves on an “as needed, as available “ basis.

Nancy Esbensen is the Administrative Assistant and Office Manager at First.  Nancy and her husband Mark, live with their son Chris in Broadheadsville.  In addition to being a self-confessed computer “geek”, Nancy is an insufferable Philadelphia Eagles fan.

Debby Tanico, an active church member since 1993, assumed her position as financial secretary in February 2000. Debby and her husband Greg are the proud parents of Alix and Krysta.  Debby works full time as a credit manager at ICS in Wind Gap PA. She also does financial work for several other local churches.

Pat thor Straten-Mohr joined the First Presbyterian church staff August 1, 2005 as Director of Music/Senior Choir Director.  She attended Mansfield University (Pa.) majoring in music education, with a minor in voice performance.  Pat is a member of the Bach and Handel Chorale in Jim Thorpe, Pa. , and Pocono Choral Society in Stroudsburg.  Before coming to FPC she was the soprano soloist and section leader of the chancel choir at St. John's Lutheran Church in Allentown.  Recently retiring from Shawnee Press as Director of Publications, Pat lives in Lehighton with her husband David.   They are the proud parents of son Regen,his wife Rachel and their son Christian Erik.

 Michael Capone , our organist at First Presbyterian since 2002, holds a bachelor's degree in music from West Chester University and has done graduate work at East Stroudsburg University, Wilkes College, and the University of Scranton. His primary performance area while in college was organ. He is presently the choral director at Swiftwater Intermediate School in the Pocono Mountain School District where he directs the school's three choirs.  

 Rosemary has been sexton since 2002 and an active member of First Presbyterian since 1995. She is the proud mother of 4,2 boys and 2 girls and the loving grandmother of six grandsons.Rosemary is active in our PW and small group study. In her spare time Rosemary enjoys knitting,gardening and being with her church family

Your webmaster worked for J P Morgan and its various name changes for 37 years. Downsizing gave him a lot of extra time and he volunteered to run the website. He would appreciate hearing from anyone who has some ideas on what they would like to see on this website
